#3: Research initiatives
The Carbon Leadership Forum
The Carbon Leadership Forum’s goal is to “eliminate carbon in buildings and infrastructure by inspiring innovations and spurring change through collective action”. They have been working towards this goal in so many different ways from encouraging the reduction of carbon in as many ways as possible. Embodied carbon is the emission of greenhouse gas that is said to be linked to materials and is harmful to our environment.
Architecture 2030
Architecture 2030 is a non-profit organization whose goal it is is to respond to climate emergencies. They want to design a way to change the environment from greenhouse gases that are harming our environment. They want to reduce the CO_2 emissions and stop the usage of fossil fuels by the year 2040. They want to “develop sustainable, resilient, equitable, and zero carbon building communities and cities” (Architecture 2030). They have been designing, collaborating, planning, and educating themselves to build and achieve these goals.
Habitable
Habitable has a goal to build environmentally friendly buildings, focusing on reduced pollution, climate change, and equity. They focus on how our every day decisions in architecture can change our environment. “We envision a better future where decision-makers consider the full product lifecycle, making conscious choices to eliminate negative impacts on people and ecosystems along the way” (Habitable). They are trying to reverse damage that has already been dealt and strive to show people the right items to use to save our planet instead of building up more waste and CO_2.
